Your collection day
Your bin is collected once a week on a fixed day, set when you sign up. We confirm the day when you enquire.
A growing CBD
Parramatta's centre has grown quickly, with new office towers, apartments and dining precincts. Many of the newer kitchens share a loading dock and a waste contract run by the building. The NSW EPA says that where the property owner or facilities manager holds the waste contract, they must work with tenants under the food waste rules, including making sure food waste is collected at least weekly. If you are a tenant, ask who holds your waste contract before you set up; if you manage a building, we can plan bins for several tenants.
The rules are based on general waste bin capacity each week: 3,960L from 1 July 2026, 1,980L from 1 July 2028 and 720L from 1 July 2030. Food court dining areas open to the public are exempt until 1 July 2030, but back-of-house kitchens are not.
City of Parramatta and FOGO
According to the NSW EPA's council list, the City of Parramatta already provides a food and garden organics (FOGO) service to households, so food separation is a familiar habit for many staff. For businesses, the City of Parramatta checks compliance with the business food waste rules for most sites, while the EPA checks government-run facilities. Our guide to the NSW food waste rules sets out who checks what.
What it costs
The price is the same as everywhere we collect: $45 a 120L bin a week for up to 20kg a lift, $49 for up to 35kg and $54 for up to 50kg, ex GST, plus a 9.93% fuel levy shown as its own line. For the first few weeks we watch the real weights, then set the tier that fits. See how the weight tiers work.
