Food waste collection
in the Inner South.

We collect food waste every week across Sydney's Inner South, from Redfern, Waterloo and Green Square to Alexandria, Rosebery, Mascot and Botany. Each 120L bin costs $45 to $54 a week by weight, ex GST, plus a fuel levy.

Inner South

Where we collect
in the Inner South.

The Inner South takes in two council areas. The City of Sydney covers Redfern, Waterloo, Zetland, Green Square, Alexandria, Beaconsfield, Rosebery and Erskineville. Bayside Council covers Mascot, Botany and Eastlakes, around the airport. St Peters sits on the Inner West edge. All of it is inside the area we collect.

How collection works here

Set up once.
Runs every week.

  1. We deliver the kit

Caddy, liners, signage and the 120L bin, set up in the kitchen.

  2. Collected weekly

We collect the bin on the same day every week.

  3. We set your tier

For the first few weeks we watch the real weights, then set the tier that fits.

Your collection day

Your bin is collected once a week on a fixed day, set when you sign up. We confirm it when you enquire.

Warehouses, new towers and bigger kitchens

This part of Sydney has changed fast. Old warehouses in Alexandria and Rosebery now hold larger kitchens with room to spread out, and Green Square and Zetland have new mixed-use towers with shared loading docks. Two things follow from that.

  • Larger sites may already be covered. A kitchen that fills six 660L general waste bins a week is at 3,960L, the threshold that has applied since 1 July 2026. The next steps are 1,980L from 1 July 2028 and 720L from 1 July 2030.
  • Weight matters more. Bigger kitchens often make dense food waste. That is why we watch the real weights for the first few weeks and set the tier from them, and why a second bin is often better value than one very heavy one.

In the new towers, the waste contract is often held by the building owner or strata. The NSW EPA says the contract holder must work with tenants to manage food waste under the rules, so it is worth starting with them.

Two councils, two household services

According to the NSW EPA's council list, the City of Sydney already provides a food and garden organics (FOGO) service to households, while Bayside Council currently provides garden organics only. For businesses, the business food waste rules apply in both, and your council checks compliance for most sites. If you are near the boundary and unsure which council you are in, your rates notice or lease will say. Read our guide to the NSW food waste rules for how to count your bins.

What it costs

The price is the same as everywhere we collect: $45 a 120L bin a week for up to 20kg a lift, $49 for up to 35kg and $54 for up to 50kg, ex GST, plus a 9.93% fuel levy shown as its own line. For the first few weeks we watch the real weights, then set the tier that fits. See how the weight tiers work.

Inner South questions

Local
questions.

Every area has the same prices. See all the areas we collect.

We have a large kitchen. Can you handle heavy bins?
Yes. Each 120L bin is priced by weight, up to 50kg a lift. If your food waste is dense, we may suggest more bins so each one stays in a sensible tier.
Do you collect near the airport?
Yes, across Mascot, Botany and Eastlakes. Tell us about any site access rules when you enquire.
Our strata manages the bins. Who do we talk to?
Start with the strata or building manager who holds the waste contract. Under the NSW rules they need to work with tenants on food waste, and we can work with them directly.
