What does Feedback Organic do?
We collect food waste every week. Each site gets a kitchen caddy, certified compostable liners, signage and a 120L bin, and we collect the bin on a fixed day each week. We are a registered charity and have been collecting food waste since 2013.
Where do you collect?
Across greater Sydney, including the CBD, the Inner West, the Eastern Suburbs, the Inner South, the Lower North Shore, the Northern Beaches and Parramatta, and in Newcastle and the Hunter. Send us your address and we will confirm your collection day. See the areas we collect.
What is in the starter kit?
A kitchen caddy, certified compostable liners (AS 4736), signage for the kitchen and a 120L bin. The caddy sits on the bench and empties into the bin out the back.
What day is my bin collected?
Once a week, on a fixed day that we set with you when the service starts. Collections are run with our collection partner, and the day depends on the route that covers your address.
How often is food waste collected?
Once a week, every week, on the same day. The NSW food waste rules require food waste at a covered site to be collected at least once a week, and weekly also keeps smells and pests down.
How do I start?
Fill in the collection enquiry form with your address and roughly how much food waste you make. We confirm the area and collection day, then deliver the kit and set it up in the kitchen.
Is there a contract?
Yes, there is a contract. Billing is monthly by default, and you can cancel with notice. Annual billing is available on request.
Can I have more than one bin?
Yes. Each 120L bin is priced and collected on its own. If one bin fills up or gets heavy, a second bin is often the simplest answer.
Price
What it
What it
costs.
How much does food waste collection cost?
$45 a bin a week for up to 20kg a lift, $49 for up to 35kg, and $54 for up to 50kg. Prices are per 120L bin, ex GST, plus a fuel levy of 9.93% shown as its own line. These are our current rates for the 2026-27 financial year. See how the weight tiers work.
How is my weight tier set?
For the first few weeks we watch the real weight of your bin at each lift. Then we move your site to the tier that fits, and tell you before your invoice changes.
What if my bin goes over its weight limit?
An overweight charge per kg applies above the tier limit, at the rate set out in your service agreement. If it happens often, moving up a tier or adding a bin usually costs less.

What goes
What goes
in the bin.
What can go in the food waste bin?
Fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds, food left on plates, bread, dairy, and meat and bones. Read what goes in a commercial food waste bin for more detail.
What has to stay out?
Packaging, plastic, glass, cans, and liners that are not certified compostable. These cannot be composted, and they spoil the load for everyone.
Do I need compostable liners?
Yes, if you line the caddy, the liner must be certified compostable to Australian Standard AS 4736. We supply some in the starter kit. Read what AS 4736 means for liners.
What happens to the food waste?
It is composted, and the compost goes back into growing food. That is the loop: food waste becomes compost, compost grows food, and food comes back to the table. Read how food waste becomes food.

Do the NSW food waste rules apply to my business?
They apply to relevant premises, such as supermarkets and places that prepare or serve food, once their general waste bins reach a weekly capacity: 3,960L from 1 July 2026, 1,980L from 1 July 2028 and 720L from 1 July 2030. Read the full guide to the NSW food waste rules.
Our site is under the threshold. Can we still collect food waste?
Yes. Many sites start before the rules reach them. Separating food waste early means the habit is set before it is required.
We share bins with other tenants. Who is responsible?
The NSW EPA says that where a property owner or facilities manager holds the waste contract, as in a shopping centre, they are responsible for working with tenants and providing enough food waste bins. If you hold your own waste contract, the responsibility is yours.
Is Feedback Organic a charity?
Yes. Feedback Organic Recovery Limited is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and is a Deductible Gift Recipient. We have been collecting food waste since 2013. Read about us.
