How it works
From an idea to your street.
The Co-Design Hub is run by Feedback Organic, a registered charity collecting food waste since 2013. Each campaign asks one suburb one question, then builds the answer it picks.
- IdeateAnyone who lives, works or studies in the area shares an idea. A moderator checks each one within two days.
- VoteUpvote as many ideas as you like, one upvote per idea. Change your mind until voting closes.
- SelectThe most upvoted ideas, up to ten, are scored out of 100 by community, panel and feasibility. Every score is published.
- BuildShortlisted ideas pitch on the night. The winner gets development support to launch. Prize and funding details are announced when the round opens.
- Award and scaleIt launches, it is followed in the open, and it grows. A people's choice is awarded too.
Scoring

- Upvotes, scaled so the most upvoted idea gets the full 40.
- Expert
- The panel of five scores impact on the local food system and how many people it reaches.
- Business
- Could it pay its own way, and be running within a year with the funding and help available?
The rules
Questions people ask
Who can share an idea or upvote?
Anyone who lives, works or studies in the campaign area. You can upvote without joining. Ideas are open to individuals, groups, schools and businesses.
What does the winner get?
Development support for the winning idea, with help on the plan, partners and launch. A people's choice is also recognised. Prize and funding details are announced when the round opens.
What does Feedback Organic get?
Nothing is taken from an idea unless the winner has agreed the terms in writing. The terms are published here when the round opens.
Does my idea have to make money?
No. Community ideas are welcome and can win the people's choice. Ideas that can pay their own way score higher, because they keep going after the funding ends.
Does my idea have to fit with Feedback Organic?
Ideas must keep Feedback Organic as the food waste service, or add to it. Ideas that replace collection, like on-site composting or a separate collection round, won't go forward to a vote without a change. Any food waste an idea produces is collected by Feedback Organic.
Who owns my idea?
You do. By sharing it you agree it can be shown on the hub, discussed and built on by others. If it wins, we agree a simple plan with you before any funding is spent.
Can one person's friends swing the vote?
Upvotes are 40 of the 100 points. One upvote per person per idea, and unusual patterns are checked before the shortlist is published.
How is moderation done?
A moderator reads every idea and comment. We merge duplicates (with credit to both people), ask questions when an idea is unclear, and remove anything unkind or off topic.
Is this a competition under NSW law?
The winner is chosen by skill-based judging, not chance. Final terms will be published before the first round opens.
